Yesterday we explored the “dangers” of owning a vehicle that doesn’t surpass safety standards and ratings. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety conducts thousands of tests of vehicles each year and rates them according to their safety, impact protection, roll-over text, whiplash damages and more. Each of these vehicles is the top safety pick for the category of car they fall into. IIHS names anywhere between 5-7 vehicles per category to allow car buyers more of a variety of safety approved vehicles. Different manufacturers make the list each year, but the most consistent companies include: Chevrolet, Honda, Acura, Toyota and Mercedes.
