According to KABC News, a brush fire that was threatening 650 homes near Tehachapi has nearly tripled in size to more than 13,400 acres. Currently, the fire is at about 10% containment.

A single-engine Cessna that crashed in Blackburn Canyon sparked the fire on Sunday. However, it was unclear how many people were on the plane that crashed. Authorities were able to confirm two people were dead.

By Monday night, residents at about 170 homes had been asked to evacuate. The Canyon Fire has destroyed 12 homes, along with 15 outbuildings and three recreational vehicles. More than 1,200 firefighters were battling the fire. Full containment is expected by Friday, authorities said.
