Let’s Honor Our American Heroes this Veterans Day
Try out these suggestions to show your gratitude this Veterans Day.
Veterans Day is November 11th. On this day, take a moment to reflect on the selfless sacrifices that members of the United States Armed Forces have made to serve their country. It’s important that we show our appreciation for these brave men and women. So, make sure you show your gratitude this Veterans Day by trying out some of these suggestions.
Donate
One of the easiest ways to support the veteran community is by donating to organizations that offer services and aid to veterans. For instance, charities such as Operation Gratitude accept donations of goods to make care packages that they then send to veterans, deployed service members, wounded heroes, and many other service members. Additionally, there are many organizations deserving of your financial donations as well. Some of these worthy charities include: Wounded Warrior Project, DAV (Disabled American Veterans), Homes for our Troops, and so many more.
Write
Another way to get involved this Veterans Day is by writing thank you letters to the veteran community. Gather your family and friends and hold a letter writing party. Even the children can get involved by drawing pictures and writing little notes to send. Once you finish all your letters, send them to the nearest military or Veterans Affairs (VA) installation for them to distribute. Your words of appreciation and encouragement will show our veterans how much you care.
Say “Thanks”
The most direct way to show you gratitude is to simply tell a veteran “thanks.” Almost everyone has a family member or friend that has served, so reach out and thank them for their service. If you don’t personally know a veteran, then consider visiting a VA hospital. Many patients do not receive regular visitors, so your company and conversation could be the most meaningful way to say thank you on Veterans Day.
