Our D-Day Tribute

7

Gary Remland – Dick Meadows WWII – Bill Remland WWII

Our staff at Remland Insurance would like to say a very special THANK YOU to the brave men and women who proudly serve and protect our country. As you may know, our agency was started by a WWII Veteran William Remland in 1951 and it now run by his son Gary Remland. Today, June 6th, marks the anniversary of D-Day on the beaches of Normandy, France where American soldiers landed and took on the German Nazi’sin battle. Our country lost way too many amazing people that day, that never got to experience the freedom we now have in this country. It is because of your sacrifice we live freely and there are truly no words that can express our gratitude to you.

The term “D-Day” designates the day when the actual operation took place. On June 6, 1944 the largest air, land and sea operation landed on the coast of France ready to take on Hitler’s Nazi Army. 5,000 ships,11,000 airplanes and over 150,000 service men were involved in the strike after years of meticulous planning. The Allied Forces suffered nearly 6,000 death son that day due to water current, equipment weight and injuries but they will forever be remembered as some of the bravest men to serve this country. The D-Day Battle is considered one of the most pivotal battles of WWII because it led to victory!

A special thank you to our friend and loyal customer, Dick Meadows who served in WWII and was on the front lines of battle. To read more his experience as a Marine in WWII check out this great article from the OC Register – “WWII Marine dons dress blues for first time.”
