Motorcycle + VW + Cell Phone Use = Tragedy

Motorcycle + VW + Cell Phone Use = Tragedy

When it comes to texting while driving we truly cannot express just how dangerous it is! In the last 10 years since texting was created there have been thousands of cell phone related accidents that could have been prevented if only every driver would wait to use their phone until they were parked.

Our staff recently received an email full of accident photos where the driver had been texting before impact…if you were ever unsure of the dangers then look no further because the image posted above is the prime example of what can happen if you take your eyes off the road for even a second!

Here is the story behind the photo:

The Honda Motorcycle rider was traveling at approximately 85 mph upon impact. The VW driver was texting on her cell phone when she pulled out from a side street, apparently not even seeing the motorcycle. The rider’s reaction time was not sufficient enough to avoid this accident.

The car had two passengers and the bike rider was found inside the car with them. The VW actually flipped over from the force of impact and landed 20 feet from where the collision took place.

All three involved were killed instantly. All because of the distraction of a cell phone.

This car traveled to Motorcycle Fair put on by the Police & Road Safety Department.

If a picture is worth 1000 words then this one speaks about a million! Please be safe on the road and DO NOT use your cellular phone while driving!
