KEEP OUR ROADS SAFE: DON’T TEXT AND DRIVE!
Together we can save lives.
Millions of drivers endanger themselves and the lives of others everyday by texting while driving. Mercury Insurance wants to help make our roads and highways safer for everyone, so we’re asking that you join us by pledging not to text while driving.
By the time you look up, it may be too late. Texting while driving could drastically change someone’s life.
Texting while driving is a leading cause of accidents for teenagers and it claims thousands of lives each year.1 In fact, texting while driving reduces a driver’s reaction time so much that it’s the same as driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent, which would make you legally intoxicated.2
Several studies reveal:
- Drivers are four times more likely to get into an accident when texting and driving.3
- More than 49% of all adults say they have been in a car when the driver was sending or reading text messages.4
- Nearly 86% of teens admit to texting while driving.5
