How many times have you been driving and something falls on the car floor, rolls around and you reach for it? Did you know this is one of the top-five distracted driving hazards? Every day it seems like you see drivers swerving around the road trying to send that “important text” message or check up on email. That CAN wait! If an email is worth risking your life for, then it’s time tore-evaluate your job requirements and take some time to relax.

Here at Remland Insurance we are so proud to represent over 20 companies that sell reputable California Auto Insurance policies and a few in particular advocate safe driving, which includes not texting or using cellular devices while operating a motor vehicle or cycle.

Mercury Insurance recently introduced a “Pledge to Make Our Roads Safe, Don’t Text and Drive” campaign urging drivers to sign a contract about their behavior behind the wheel. Our staff feels it is so important to discuss this important matter together as a household and hold each other accountable for keeping the contract rules in place while driving.

The Mercury Insurance pledge consists of 5 simple bullet points and is printable from their website. Be sure to print off as many copies as drivers in your household to make this a full family affair! Stay off your phones, and pay close attention to the road! A text message is NEVER worth risking your life.
