Old Towne Orange is known for its beautiful historic and charming homes. Hundreds of the historic district of Old Towne are well over 100 year’s old and still going strong. The community of Orange has some incredible residents that have taken great pride in keeping the integrity of many of the original homes and buildings giving the area a certain charm you cannot find anywhere else in the United States.

In 1997 Old Towne Orange was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and is currently considered the largest National Register District in California. The 1,700+ homes in the neighborhoods that make up Old Towne are comprised of Bungalow, Craftsman, Hip Roof Cottage, Mediterranean, Prairie,Spanish Colonial, Victorian style homes and possibly a few more. Each of these homes was built between the late 1800s to the early 1900s classifying them as “historic”when it comes to finding the proper insurance coverage.  Homes are technically considered “historic” if they were constructed before 1940.

When you are considering insuring a historic home, there are many options available. With the help of a qualified insurance agent, options as to what variety of coverage you may need can be discussed along with replacement coverage and a specific list of each material the home was made with. Historic home insurance is generally considered to be about 20% higher than your standard homeowners insurance and varies depending on the size of home, the location and of course its historic features.
