Giving Thanks & How to Give Back to Your Community

Being thankful for what we have is not something we do every day, but Thanksgiving gives us the opportunity to give back to our community.

People love receiving, but it’s equally important that we give just as much, if not more, than we receive. While the start of Thanksgiving comes from a morally questionable point in American history, it’s transformed into being an inclusive and giving holiday for everyone to enjoy and spend quality time with their family and their community. The community is something that binds everyone together and giving back to the community helps it stay safe and helps it progress into the future. Here are some ways you can give back to your community.

Share Your Family

Perhaps you have a friend or neighbor who is new to your city and will not be going back home for Thanksgiving. You ask them what they’re doing and they reply with something like, “I’m probably just going to stay home.” Why not ask them to spend Thanksgiving with you and your family?

Share With Others

Sharing with others goes beyond the four walls of your home. Thanksgiving is a time to share with your community in more ways than you can imagine. Donating what you don’t need to the less fortunate to help them get back on their feet is a sign of a good person. Donating toys, food, clothing, school supplies, and blood are all good ways to give back to your community and to everyone in it.
