Community Foundation of Orange 2016 Gala

Community Foundation of Orange 2016 Gala

Gala

Here in the City of Orange, we are fortunate to have many wonderful non-profit organizations that help to support local schools, libraries, families, seniors and much more. We at Remland Insurance have had the absolute pleasure of meeting and working with the Community Foundation of Orange over the past few years and are blown away by their ability to serve our great city. Our owner, Gary Remland currently serves at the Foundation President and assists in planning and organizing many events with the other 25 board members.

In 2000, a gentleman by the name of Gary Wann, served as the Director of Community and Library Services here in Orange saw that there was a need to create a city run foundation that would assist in the further development of city recreation facilities and the Orange Public Library chain. The Community Foundation of Orange was created to meet these needs, and eventually became two separate foundations: The Orange Public Library Foundation and the Community Foundation of Orange.  For the past 12 years, both foundations have had the opportunity to serve the City of Orange and its residents by raising funds for new buildings, organizing events and assisting those in need. Community needs have been discovered especially as the schools have been forced to cut back on programs like music, art, sports and reading.

Board President, Lisa Blanc sat down with Remland Insurance to share about their upcoming events and how the community can join in helping the Foundation throughout the year. “Give where you live,” is the motto at the Community Foundation of Orange and that is reflected in their passion for the Foundation and its work in the City of Orange. Each year the Foundation puts on five major events:

gala 16

  • Studio Orange Talent Blossoms (Arts & music program for children in the community)
  • The Foundation Games  (Free track meet that sends children to state competitions)
  • Kids Play (Sponsoring children who cannot afford to enroll In community sports leagues)
  • Carnival for Project Hope School

These wonderful programs are fully funded by community sponsors, board members and local volunteers who want to give back where they live and work. Corporate sponsors like CR&R Waste and Recycling Services, Chapman University, Edison International and more all donate thousands of dollars to the Foundation each year so that they are able to execute these FREE events for the community. The Foundation Games costs over $40,000 to put on, and allows children from all over the Orange Unified School District to compete in Track and Field at Fred Kelly Stadium where they can qualify to go to the Regional and State tournaments.

If you are interested in getting involved as a sponsor or volunteer for the upcoming events, please contact Susie Cunningham at the Foundation office 714) 288-9909 or send an email to [email protected]. You can also join the fun on Facebook or Twitter.
