Christmas Tree Recipe

Christmas Tree Recipe

christmas tree recipe

Does your family buy a live Christmas Tree? If so…does it stay alive the entire month of December? Here is a simply and cheap recipe that will help your tree to last longer in 2013.

#1 At the trunk of the tree have them make a fresh cut 2 inches or more to the trunk of the tree. Even if they say it’s a fresh cut have them cut it again in front of you!

#2 At home quickly bring a gallon of water to a boil. Add 1/4 cup of Karo syrup amd 1 teaspoon of bleach.

#3 Immediately pour the hot mixture into the tree stand. Keep the kids away and be careful not to burn yourself!

Wait several hours(or overnight) to see if the tree is drinking the mixture. If the tree does not drink it then it is already dead. Return it and get a new one. If the tree takes the mixture it’s alive. Check the water level at least every other day. If the water is low repeat steps #2 and #3 and your tree should stay fresh for up to a month!

Please make sure your Christmas Tree lights are turned “off” anytime you leave the house. Christmas Tree fires start when branches get dry and the heat of the lights creates a spark…so only have them running when you are at home – Your California home insurance agent will thank you!
