Is Your Backyard Ready for Spring?

Grab your gardening gloves and tools because it’s time to do some planning, trimming, and landscaping to make your backyard ready for spring.

Put on your favorite pair of gardening gloves and grab your gardening toolkit – it is time to get your home ready for spring, even if a stint of a winter air is still among us. Spring brings longer days, which leads to plants blossoming. It’s time to trim the plants, freshen the outdoor ambiance, and add some new and fun furniture to make your backyard more inviting and fit the part that spring all but demands.

  1. Trim the Shrubs
Even after a relatively short winter, the shrubs likely got out of control and grew as wildly as Axl Rose’s hair in the mid-90s. Use hedge trimmers to bring your shrubs back into the ideal geometric shapes you want them to be.
  2. Prepare the Grill
The grill may get little attention during the winter months, but it’s always a good idea to give it a good scrub before you bust it out in 2017 (or whatever year it may be for you in the future). Make sure that all the hoses are properly connected and ensure that your gas tank is full and ready to go.
  3. Add a Plant(er Box)
Planter boxes can help add some life to your backyard, provide height, and define edges. The key to keeping plants in a box alive is drainage and soil. Make sure that your plants can drain in order for fresh water to cycle in and out, and make sure to add the right soil in order for them to acquire the necessary nutrients.
